Alan and Olivia bowled up in Henley two years ago with a dream: to create a bar that was a curious blend of traditional and contemporary, the open brickwork and candles sitting comfortably next to the stylised New York skyline stencilled on the walls, creating a warm, artistic and unique environment, with undertones of 1970's Big Apple style and a cosy welcoming feel. They understand that a pub is characterised by its welcoming ambiance. The clientele now are a relaxed, young, fun-loving, eclectic bunch, always keen to welcome a new face and hear a new story.
Outside there's a cosy heated smoking area and a beautiful landscaped beer garden in which to while away a sunny afternoon, with some beautiful reggae drifting out across the blue sky, while the open air barbecue sizzles and mouth-watering aromas waft through the air. Think more marinated king prawns, than iceland burgers...
If you know much about Henley, you'll know there's not a glut of cocktail bars. In fact, the Horse & Groom is the only dedicated cocktail bar in town (but don't worry, you've still got lager, bitter and Guinness on draught ) they always help you to choose the best for your taste. If you're feeling adventurous try one of their ten different takes on a Bloody Mary.
Come back and visit this page in a couple of months when it's fully operational like the Death Star, but in the meanwhile, if you're looking for a watering hole that offers a little more than the usual, why not drop in and say "Hi!", we're just opposite the Kenton theatre.
